For each greetings card, cut out a rectangle of thin coloured card large enough to be folded in half with a motif on the front. To fold in half, score right side along the centre with scissor points.
Fold the card in along the scored line and press it down firmly. Using a pencil, trace either the egg or the rabbit patterns on these pages. Turn the tracing over and hold it in position on the front of the card. Rub firmly over the outline with a pencil. The shape will appear on the card. On a cutting mat, carefully cut out the shape using the craft knife – ask an adult to help you do this. Where possible, start at a point, such as the tip of the ear, and cut each section in one complete motion to give a smooth, shaped edge.
Cut a piece of tissue paper slightly larger than the hole you have made. Put a small amount of glue around the edge of the hole and carefully stick the piece of tissue in place.
Tie ribbon in a bow and glue in position to give the rabbit a smart neck bow. Glue a pompon tail on the rabbit.
TIP: We used small craft pompons which are sold in the haberdashery section of department stores. They are also available by mail order from craft suppliers. If you do not want to buy specialist pompons, cheat – use a piece of cotton wool, rolled into a ball.
When you have made both cards, you can make more cards using the cut out shapes. Just make sure that the background colour is not the same as the colour of the cut outs or they won’t show up!
