Paint the box and its lid in white paint. Take the paint a little way inside the box and inside the lid for a neat finish. You may need two coats to cover properly. Measure inside the lid and the base of the box and its sides. Cut pieces of mulberry paper slightly larger than needed so that you can tear to size and spray glue into position to provide an attractive lining for the box.
On one sheet of the plain white card layer tom pieces of the coloured tissue in a patchwork design to cover an area approx 5ins square. On the remaining sheet of card, layer the patchwork tissue across the whole length of the A4 sheet and to a depth of about 6ins-8ins. Leave to dry. Once dry you may have to weight it overnight to ensure it is flat before the next step.
On the dry patchwork patterned card, stamp and emboss the open heart image right across the card. You need to make eight stamped shapes. With the 5ins square patchwork piece, turn the card over and draw a heart shape. Cut this out. Turn over and stamp and emboss one image only as shown in the picture.
Now that the box is completely dry, lightly stamp the sides and the lid with the open heart stamp and gold ink pad. The image will be broken in places, but this gives a subtle pattem. For a stronger image, you would need to stamp and emboss the open heart randomly onto a separate piece of card and paste to the lid.
When dry, tear a piece of the rose mulberry paper about 5ins square and spray mount to to the lid. Paste on the patchwork and stamped heart.
Glue the 11/2ins gold ribbon around the sides of the box. Position low enough so that part of it will not ‘disappear’ when the lid is in place. Glue down the narrower trim around the edge of the lid.
Cut out the now dry patchwork and stamped hearts from the A4 sheet
(8 in total). Glue two on each of the four sides of the box.
On a scrap of white card, stamp and emboss two small plain hearts. Cut out the two small hearts and attach to the box lid, as shown, with the Sticky Fixers. One Sticky Fixer cut in half will do. It is best to cut them in half with the protective backing still in place. Trim the larger central heart with the gold bead trim.
