General Materials
- Thread to match fabric
- Coloured thread in leaf green, golden yellow and orange
- Patterned ribbon or ric-rac braid
- Daisy motifs
Tablecloth
- Piece of fabric to fit your table (see TIPS)
Napkins
- Four square pieces of fabric – 40cm (16in.) square
Tablecloth
1 Cut out the fabric to required size. Make a hem at least 3.5cm (11⁄4in.) wide. Sew on the ribbon braid about 2cm (3⁄4in.) from the edge. Do not pull the braid tight when sewing it on.
2 Decide what embroidery pattern you would like and sew rows of it on either side of the ribbon, so they look nice and even or else sew the ric-rac here instead if your sewing machine doesn't have any fancy stitches on it or you are making this tablecloth set by hand.
3 Randomly place small daisy motifs over the cloth, pin then sew in place. Finally sew tiny green diamond shapes next to the flowers, to look like little leaves.
Napkins
1 Hem around each square of the fabric with a finished size hem of about 3.5cm (11⁄4in.).
2 Using an embroidery stitch to match the cloth, sew evenly spaced row around the napkin or evenly sew on the rick-rack. Add one daisy motif in one corner of each of the napkins to finish. PC
| TIP:
When measuring your table for the fabric needed, allow at least 30cm (12in.) overhang, plus enough for hems. |
